| **Refreshments at 4:00pm, Program at 4:15** Preparing to be a Software Entrepreneur - Real Software Startup In The Current Market Environment Information: UCLA Engineering, like other leading academic institutions, has an increasing focus on fostering entrepreneurism, helping transition new technologies, systems and processes from research to commercialization, preparing its students for the possibility of founding a startup venture. This year, the Computer Science department has invited CS graduates and Venture Capital leaders who have had many successful startups under their belts to share their experience in this seminar. Today’s difficult market/financial environment makes this seminar a valuable session for you, the budding or in-transition entrepreneur, or one who hopes to step out and become one. Come and listen to three successful entrepreneurs describe their companies, and give an account of their experience with the process of germinating an idea for a startup venture, preparing and pitching a rigorous and believable business plan, raising necessary funding, and even devising the proverbial ‘exit strategy’. Ask them how UCLA CS programs helped them and hear them recount/analyze successes and failures in their ventures. Hear their advice to budding entrepreneurs on how to deal with the current economic conditions and not only survive, but thrive!
